Tylwyth Teg is the general name for Fairies in Wales, it means The Fair Folk

Tylwyth Teg are small in stature and have golden hair, which is a trait that is common in many Fairies. They live in hollows under hills and in deep crevices

Like other Fairies they sometimes interact with humans although they still prefer the company of their own kind

Bendith Y Mamau

Bendith Y Mamau means the mothers blessing and is a generic name for Fairies, especially in southern Wales

In appearance the Fairies are described as small and ugly. They are most readily identified with Brownies or the West County Pixies

The Bendith Y Mamau are known to steal children and replace them with their own changelings known as Crimbils. Mothers have to be careful not to leave their babies unattended in Fairy country

Coblynau

Coblynau is a welsh mine Fairy. They are a type of knocker and are quite good humoured and helped miners by knocking in places with lots of minerals or metal

The Coblynau stand at around 18 inches high and dress in the same sort of clothes as the miners

Fairies often live underground in caves and crevices
