Brownies
A common name for Fairies, Brownies are small
in appearance and like to wear brown coloured clothing
Brownies are thought to attach themselves to houses and families
and can be helpful in household tasks, but if offended they can become mischevious and generally make a nuisance of themselves
To get rid of Brownies leave them a new cloak and hood,
they will take it and you will never see them again

Will O' The Wisp
The will o' the wisp refers to
the ghostly light sometimes seen at twilight or at night over bogs. It looks like a flickering lamp and is said to sometimes
retreat when approached
The tale goes that the will o' the wisp is in fact Will the
blacksmith, a wicked man who who is given a second chance to enter the gates of heaven by St Peter, but instead he lives such
a bad life that he ends up doomed to wander the earth forever carrying with him a single burning coal given to him by the
devil with which to warm himself. It is also said that he uses this light to lure foolish travellers into the marshes

Selkies
I am a man on the land,
I am a selkie on the sea
Selkies are shape changing sea Fairies who normally take the
shape of bright eyed seals. They are found in Northern Scotland and the Shetland Islands
Selkies often come to land in human form where they love to sing
and dance, especially on the night of the full moon
When they take human form, Selkies hide their sealskins in a
safe place. Many Selkies marry humans and are said to make very good wives but they always long for the sea. Many of
them put their sealskins back on and return to the sea
A Selkie can be identified in their human form by their webbed
fingers and toes and by their ability to swim under water for long periods of time
